Epicenter Support for Modern Authentication

Modern Authentication in Office 365 is "is a method of identity management that offers more secure user authentication and authorization." Organizations that created their O365 accounts after July, 2017 were automatically opted in to Modern Authentication. Other organizations may choose to manually enable Modern Authentication.

After extensive testing at Connected Software, we have not found a way to make Epicenter Server work with Modern Authentication with Outlook 365/2016/2019. The only workaround we've found is to use Outlook 2013 instead.

The most commonly cited solution for handling Modern Authentication problems is to set EnableADAL to zero in the registry. However, in our testing this has not resolved the problem.

This problem has been discussed by Exchange experts and reported to Microsoft, but as of October 2021, no solution is available for Outlook 365/2016/2019.

Microsoft has issued an statement that they will not support this configuration: (The workaround in this article does not apply to applications like Epicenter Server that run as a service.)
